Closure of the Belgian branch of the IMS
04/05/2026

Our colleagues in the Belgian Section of the IMS have informed us that their Section is ceasing operations.

Two reasons

Arnaud Gorgemans, the Section’s head, has announced that he has accepted a new professional role and that this will bring all his duties within the Mutualité Chrétienne (MC) to an end on 31 May 2026.

Furthermore, the MC organisation has announced that it no longer wishes to entrust the responsibility for the Belgian Section of the IMS to one of its own staff.

Consequences for the Groups

Discussions on possible alternatives have led to a proposal for the Groups to choose between two options:

  • joining the General Section
  • or joining the Section for the region of the world in which their Group is based.

Consultations are well underway to enable each of the 31 Groups to determine their future membership.

27 May 2026

A final meeting of the Section with the Group leaders is scheduled for 27 May. More than just a farewell gathering for the Section team, it will be a meeting focused on the future of the Groups within IMS.

Thank you !

But it will undoubtedly be an emotional moment for Fabienne Godfroid, who has been involved in the Section’s activities for a very long time, as well as for Arnaud, who has been its leader for the past seven years. This marks the end of a chapter in the history of IMS with the closure of one of the founding Sections of Entraide Missionnaire Internationale.

Thank you to everyone for the fraternal and very fruitful collaboration.
