International Missionary Benefit Society attends the 117th National Congress of the CNEC

 

The National Centre for Parish Treasurers in Italy CNEC aims to provide its Italian member treasurers with tools to strengthen their role in relation to canon law, particular law and civil law, by promoting responsible and forward-looking governance.

 

The Centre brought its members together in Rome from 19 to 21 May 2026, under the theme ‘The bursar between canon law, particular law and civil law’, with four specific topics for this edition:

• Religious institutes and the third sector: balancing charism and social impact
• Social protection in religious organisations: caring for communities and protecting employees
• Artificial intelligence: safeguarding the bursar’s office in the face of technological change
• Asset management: a strategic vision for assets serving the mission

 

The IMS played a key role at the event, with the opportunity to highlight the unique nature of its services. Many Italian religious orders do, in fact, have a presence outside Europe and specific healthcare needs. Some also need to provide social security cover for their members living in Italy. Access to all healthcare professionals without distinction, including private practitioners, the absence of upfront costs within the medical network, and the ability to enrol a member almost instantly (and thus use the certificate to obtain a visa) are just a few examples.
