Dear friends,
I am pleased to send you this newsletter, which highlights how International Missionary Benefit Society (IMS) is adapting to the realities on the ground through a significant organisational change: the closure of its Belgium Section on 1 June 2026, following the departure of its head. Mr Gorgemans and Ms Godefroid have done a remarkable job over the past few years. The Groups can now rely on their new (General) Section.
This newsletter also highlights the vitality of our Sections and their essential role : reaching out to their member communities and re-establishing links with the Conferences. In terms of health, the large-scale initiative led by Sr Dena is worth noting. On this occasion, Archbishop Prosper Kontiebo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Ouagadougou, strongly emphasised that “membership of the EMI is not a luxury but a necessity”. IMS truly has a vital role to play in many countries. For instance, the IMS representative in Kenya highlights the health challenges in the region: communities in Uganda, Kenya and other neighbouring countries can find solutions tailored to their needs by contacting the local EMI Section (Nairobi)..
I hope you enjoy reading this.
With fraternal regards,
Sister Elisabeth Auliac,
President of IMS
