Our mission

  • Our mutual assistance mission

The IMS is a place of sharing and solidarity between Institutes and local Churches for health care and covering its costs. In the event of illness, it undertakes to provide social economic assistance to Catholic missionaries, clergy and monks and nuns.

It seeks to provide the best cover for people (IMS Articles of Association, Article 4).

It studies assistance solutions to cover health care costs in parts of the world where financial means are limited and the available health care is insufficiently developed.

  • Our expertise at the service of health care solidarity

The IMS is a mutual assistance association designed to assist Superiors and Bishops in taking care of sick nuns, monks and priests when they do not benefit from a health care system. However, membership of the IMS does not exempt the religious communities from their canonical obligations with respect to their members.
